Fellenz Family Farm
Canandaigua CSA
How Does it Work?
The Canandaigua CSA is a cooperative venture. CSA members
commit to the purchase of a full season of fruits and vegetables
and the Fellenz Family Farm in turn commits to a weekly delivery
of a variety of fruits and vegetables for each member. Large
shares usually include 7-11 varieties of fruit and vegetables,
small shares have 5-7 varieties. Everything in the share is
grown by the Fellenz Family Farm or other Ontario and Wayne
County organic growers.
The CSA is organized in cooperation and with the support of the
Unitarian Church in Canandaigua.
Share Size
Two share sizes are available; a small size share for small
households and a large share for larger households.
What's Included in a Share?
Share contents vary with the season. In the early season, there
will be lots of greens and cool season vegetables; in the
summer there will be all of the summertime favorites - peppers,
tomatoes, squash, sweet corn, potatoes; and in the fall back to
greens and storage vegetables. Some fruit, including
raspberries and rhubarb and melons are included in the shares
also.

The payment schedule is 1/3 by April 2, 1/3 by May 1 and the

Work Requirement
This is a working CSA. All shareholders will be asked to help out
with distribution, farmwork or organizing. Large shareholders
work three 4 hour shifts on the farm, while small shareholders
work two 4 hour shifts. Members who are not physically able or
would prefer not to work on the farm can volunteer for
distribution duty or support CSA administration.
Growing Practices
All fruits and vegetables are naturally grown following the
guidelines developed for the National Organic Program and by
the Northeast Organic Farming Association of New York. No
synthetic pesticides, herbicides or fungicides are used on our
farm. Soil fertility is maintained through natural fertilization,
compost, green manures, cover cropping and other sustainable
soil building practices.
The Fellenz Family Farm is a certified organic farm. NOFA- NY
Certified Organic LLC is the certifier.
